PotPlayer install madVR renderer tutorial

madVR(Madshi Video Renderer) is a high quality video renderer (GPU assisted). high quality chroma upsampling, high quality scaling (bicubic, mitchell, lanczos, spline etc), high quality YCbCr -> RGB conversion, gamut & gamma correction for display calibration, full 16bit processing queue, final 16bit processing result is dithered down to RGB output bitdepth, bypasses graphics card's video (damage) algorithms, all work is done via GPU shaders.

Download madVR and madVRhdrMeasure(HDR to SDR mapping),unzip it into a folder.Right click on 'install. bat' and select 'Run as administrator' to complete the installation of madVR.

Right mouse click on PotPlayer,“Preferences - Video”,Video renderer chose "Madshi Video Renderer".

Click the button on the right, then click "Edit Settings" to open the madVR settings.

devices: set device type to “Digital Monitor / TV”.

properties: Set the RGB output levels to "PC levels (0-255)" ,and select 8 or 10 bits to the native display bitdepth.

hdr: select “tone map HDR using pixel shaders”,"display peak luminance" fill in appropriate values to set the brightness of the screen.

Use PotPlayer play a video,press the Tab key to view OSD,you can see Renderer is madVR.
